Overview:

A key aspect of this position is to help integrate the library strategies and the arrangements for delivery of library services to the graduate and undergraduate programs for Chamberlain College of Nursing.  Also responsible for taking the lead on coordinating library services among all library collections in the healthcare group. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in the development and maintenance of library strategy to support Chamberlain’s campus on online programs.
  • Provides leadership and mentors campus-based librarians in strategic and operational areas of library planning.
  • Participates in the National Library Committee to address policy and practice in key areas, such as Library Instruction, Collection Development, and others.
  • Supervises system reference services, including real-time digital reference.
  • Conducts training and provides support for the real-time Digital Reference program.
  • Provides Library Instruction, including development of on-line tutorials, in support of cross-curricular research policies and strategies in Chamberlain’s programs.
  • Helps guide collection development of electronic and print resources, with involvement in the budgetary decisions and CEA processes of campuses.
  • Manages vendor relationships and subscriptions with system-wide suppliers, and explores new opportunities with consortia and state organizations.
  • Manages budgetary matters for graduate-school library services and Campus subscriptions.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of library Web sites.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff (via Library Committees and other means) to gain inputs to resource acquisitions and usage.
  • Promotes library resources and services to students, faculty, and administrators.
  • Tracks and evaluates library usage data and other feedback to develop improved library services and resources.
  • Collaborates with DVU in the planning and implementation of library space, collections and services at co-locations.
  • Responsible for coordinating efforts with other healthcare institutions regarding the development and implementation of healthcare library collections for onsite and online programs.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program  required.   
  • Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) required
  • Minimum five years experience in the management of an academic library, using advanced technology.
  • Must have excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills. 
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to communicate to a diverse population. 
  • PC skills in Microsoft Office, internet applications, web-conferencing software, library cataloging systems, electronic databases and a willingness to learn new application software.
